Warranty, Repair & Insurance

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. MAIA + LYRA offers a one year craftsmanship warranty on all fine jewelry purchased directly through our studio.

This warranty covers manufacturing defects related to the setting or construction of the piece under normal wear. If a craftsmanship issue arises, we will repair the item at no cost to you.

What does the warranty include?

Our warranty includes prong tightening, stone re-setting and other repairs related to craftsmanship issues. All repairs are assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the integrity of the piece.

What is not covered under the warranty?

The following arenot coveredunder our warranty: Normal wear and tear (scratches, dents, thinning of metal over time), loss, theft, or damage or loss to the center stone or accent stones, damage caused by accidental impact, misuse, improper care, or third-party alterations, repairs needed due to resizing performed by another jeweler, tarnishing or discoloration caused by chemicals, lotions, or harsh environments.

Do you recommend jewelry insurance?

Yes — we strongly recommend insuring your jewelry immediately after purchase.Insurance protects your piece in the event of stone loss, theft, or irreparable damage, which are not covered under our warranty. Many clients choose to insure through companies such as Jewelers Mutual or by adding the piece to their homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy.

Diamonds & Gemstones

Do you work with client provided stones?

We are happy to work with heirloom or client-provided stones on a case-by-case basis, exclusively for natural diamonds and natural gemstones. At this time, we are unable to accept lab-grown stone types for reset or redesign projects.

For bespoke designs, we often prefer sourcing stones directly through our trusted suppliers to ensure the final piece fully aligns with the MAIA + LYRA vision and craftsmanship standards.

Are your diamonds conflict free & ethically sourced?

While almost all natural diamonds on the market today are technically compliant with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), the UN-backed system created to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds, the KPCS has important limitations.

Many diamonds are still sold in mixed-origin lots, which means stones from multiple countries are combined and redistributed without individual provenance. Even when a parcel is labeled “conflict-free,” the specific mine or country of origin often isn’t documented, and the KPCS does not address broader ethical issues such as labor practices, environmental impact, or community welfare.

We believe in a more transparent approach to sourcing. Whenever a diamond is accompanied by verified mine-to-market documentation, its origin is clearly disclosed. When a diamond’s origin is unknown, as is common within the global natural diamond supply, we state that openly as well.

As for our smaller (melee) natural diamonds, the exact geographic origin is unknown, unless specifically stated, as they are sourced through established global supply channels where full traceability is not always possible. This approach allows us to offer a thoughtfully curated range of ethically sourced, responsibly vetted stones across varying budgets, including more accessible options where documented origin is unavailable.

Our priority is honest communication: whether a diamond’s origin is traceable or not, we will always tell you exactly what we know so you can choose the stone that aligns with your values.

Are your melee lab grown & natural diamonds certified?

Melee diamonds, lab or natural, are never issued individual certifications. This is standard across the fine jewelry industry as accent lab grown (or natural) diamonds of this scale are supplied in parcels rather than as individually documented stones.

natural vs lab-grown diamonds: What’s the difference?

Natural and lab-grown diamonds are chemically and visually identical: both are real diamonds made of pure carbon. The main difference lies in their formation. Natural diamonds form over billions of years deep within the Earth, while lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology that replicates those same conditions in a controlled environment.

At MAIA & LYRA, we offer both options: naturally formed diamonds for those who value geological rarity, and lab-grown diamonds for couples who prefer sustainability, traceability, or a larger stone within the same budget.

Are lab-grown diamonds sustainable?

Lab-grown diamonds generally have a lower environmental impact because they don’t require large-scale mining, and many are produced using energy-efficient methods. Some lab diamonds — including SCS-007 certified stones — go a step further by meeting strict standards for traceability, climate neutrality, and responsible manufacturing.

We do our very best to select lab-grown diamonds from trusted partners who prioritize sustainability, transparency, and ethical production with an SCS certification so you know your stone aligns with your values.

Do lab-grown diamonds hold value?

Lab-grown diamonds offer incredible beauty, brilliance and size for the price, but they typically have a lower long-term resale value compared to natural diamonds. Many couples choose lab-grown stones because they prioritize affordablility and carat size without compromising quality.

We encourage clients to choose the diamond that best reflects their priorities: natural diamonds for geological rarity and traditional value, or lab-grown diamonds for modern ethics and budget-friendly luxury. There’s no “right” choice: just the one that fits your love story.

Do you work with moissanite?

Moissanite has a unique origin story. First discovered in 1893 within a meteor crater by scientist Henri Moissan, natural moissanite is exceptionally rare and not available in quantities suitable for jewelry production. As a result, all moissanite used in fine jewelry today is lab-created, allowing its optical properties and durability to be consistently replicated.

While we deeply respect the history and significance of the stone, MAIA + LYRA no longer works with moissanite as of 2026. As our brand continues to evolve, our focus is centered exclusively on natural gemstones alongside natural and lab-grown diamonds, allowing us to further refine the materials and heirloom direction of our collections and bespoke designs.

Do you work with gemstones?

We exclusively work with natural gemstones, as their individuality, geological history, rarity, and organic formation are deeply central to the design philosophy of the brand. Each stone carries characteristics shaped by the earth over millions of years, making every piece inherently one of a kind.

MAIA + LYRA does not work with lab-grown gemstones. Our collections and bespoke designs are focused entirely on natural gemstones alongside natural and lab-grown diamonds.

Transparency in materials remains a core value of the brand, and clients will always know exactly what they are purchasing through clear and thoughtful disclosure.

Precious Metals

Will my ring have a maker’s mark or authenticity stamp?

Designs that feature the M&L maker’s mark are individually designed in-house and reflect our original design work. This signature serves as a small symbol of authenticity and craftsmanship, connecting the piece directly to its design origin.

Our maker's mark has received an upgrade in the middle of 2026, which features a snowdrop flower along with M and L stamped on each side. Our older makers mark features a crescent moon with two cat ears (which still marks authenticity of the piece).

Only a small number of designs in our collection carry the maker’s mark of the U.S. based casting house we partner with, as we selectively offer pieces that align closely with the M&L design aesthetic and vision. These marks indicate the trusted origin of the piece and are standard within fine jewelry production.

What precious metals do you work with?

We primarily work with solid gold and offer the following karat grades: 10K, 14K, 18K and 22K. For gold colors, we work with yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and euro yellow.

We also work with platinum by request.

Are your pieces hallmarked for authenticity?

All of our solid gold jewelry pieces are hallmarked for authenticity with 14K, which is the industry hallmark & certification confirming gold purity. For other solid gold such as 10K, 18K or 22K, they are hallmarked with the matching karat grade. For platinum, piece will feature a PLAT mark.

Are your precious metals ethically sourced?

We prioritize ethical sourcing and environmental sustainability at every stage of production. All gold and platinum used in MAIA + LYRA pieces is 100% SCS-certified recycled precious metal, meaning it has been independently verified to meet strict sustainability and supply-chain standards.

Do you work with silver?

We currently do not work with pure sterling silver.

What's the difference in white gold colors when plated?

There is practically no visible color difference between the different karat grade white golds, as the plating provides a uniform, bright white, silver-like finish. However, 18k white gold has a higher gold content, making it slightly warmer or yellowish beneath the plating compared to the whiter alloy mixture in 14k, which may become visible over time as the plating wears off.
